Come Learn to Sail with Miami Club Sailing

If you are interested in learning how to sail we would be glad to teach you at no cost!! all we ask is that if we take the time to coach you, you take the time to consider joining the team. Please feel free to reach out to any of our members for more information or email miamisailingteam@gmail.com

The plan:

Each new sailor will be put in a boat with an experienced sailing team member. If there is an equal number of members as there are new sailors, for the entirety of the learn to sail a member will work one on one with a new sailor. If there are more sailors than members, the members will take 30 minute shifts with sailors to make sure that everyone gets time out on the water. In this case, a team member will be holding fun activities on land so that the new sailors don’t get bored.

What the new sailors will learn:

• How to both skipper and crew

  • The new sailors will be allowed to skipper if and only if:

    • The wind is consistently light/light-moderate

    • They seem comfortable in the boat and an experienced sailor deems them capable

• Upwind and downwind sailing

• How/when to trim and ease sails

• They will compete in a casual race

• They will better understand the regattas/ team schedule and why this team is awesome
